As you may know I am a Brownie leader
at the weekend I was lucky enough to attend a Girlguiding county
training day. This is an annual event for the leaders of Rainbows,
Brownies, Guides and the Senior section. Where we are able to attend
sessions on a variety of subjects including working our computer
systems, doing the finances for a pack and gaining inspiration to
add more variety to your meetings. This was the first year that I
attended so I thought I would write about how I got on.
We arrived bright and early and was
able to sit and chat with other leaders before heading to the
welcome meeting. The first session that I then attended was called good
guiding is being adventurous. This gave me many ideas on how to make
my Brownie meetings more fun and adventurous. I now have many new
ideas for next years pack holiday (I mean who doesn't want to play a
game of giant hungry hippos using small children, nets, skateboards
and a lot of small balls!).
My favourite part of the day was the
lunch break as there were many stalls selling uniform and other
Girlguiding bits. I was able to buy some badges for my camp blanket.
I got some badges that have only recently come out and some that I
didn't think that I would get hold of because they have been
discontinued but I needed them to finish the set. So I was happy but now I
will be sewing continuously for the next few months!
To finish off the day we enjoyed some
cake and listened to an inspirational speech from the Chief Guide. We
then received a badge as a thank you for attending.
Overall it was a fab day. I have so
much fun and gained so many new ideas to improve my Brownie pack and
will keep you updated on anything we do.
