So this week, it was world book day, a
day where it is customary for many schools to allow their children to
come dressed up as their favourite book character. World book day
occurs every year and yet this year, my mum forgot!!
This year world book day was celebrated
on a Thursday, which meant that mum had to leave for work early and
it was up to me to get Tilly up and get her to school.
Our Thursday started as any other
Thursday would. Tilly waking up at the crack of dawn to watch her
kindle and me shouting abuse at my alarm clock hoping for more time
in bed!!!
So up I got and made Tilly some
breakfast before getting myself dressed. However I was interrupted by
a frantic phone call from mum saying she had forgotten it was world
book day and hadn't sorted out a costume for Tilly.
So I had to spend 20 minuets going
through Tilly's dressing up clothes to find something suitable. Tilly
used to love dressing up and would go out in dressing up clothes more
often then not, however in recent years she has lost interest in
dressing up and so a lot of her costume no longer fitted her.
In the end we were able to find a white
princess dress we brought at Disneyland about 3 years ago and I told
her she was being the snow queen (the dress was actually the wedding
dress of princess Arial and had small shell shaped sequins on!).
On the walk to school however Tilly did
get a little too into character and tried to throw ice at me!!
I am proud that I was able to get Tilly
up and in fancy dress all in 20 minuets but in the future I will be
reading the newsletters to keep up to date with upcoming events and
not relying on my mum!!
