My Christmas

So Christmas has come and gone for another year. This Christmas was spent just me, my mum and my sister. It was a nice quiet day.

Because of my job as a community care working, there is always a chance I have to work on Christmas Day but luckily this year I had the day off.

As normal my Christmas started at church with midnight mass. The last few years, my family have been late to midnight mass and had to try to sneak in while the opening hymns are being sung! This year however mum decided to set off early to avoid this and as a result we were sat in church half an hour early!

Unlike the last few years, church seemed to be uneventful. We enjoyed the singing and for the first time Matilda stayed awake for most of the service and was able to receive a blessing. Although secretly I was tracking Santa on my phone and I was quite excited when he was heading to London while we were singing 'Hark the Herold Angles Sing'!

On the walk home, mum decided that she wanted a kabab. So at 1:30am on Christmas morning we were stood in the kabab stop along with all the drunk party goers! It was funny to see them all have to do a double take as no one really expected to see an 8 year old in the kabab shop.

After we got home we went straight to bed. Went we woke up the next morning Santa had been. Matilda got lots of Lego, my mum got some jewellery and alcohol and I got a sewing machine.

I have never really used a sewing machine and so it took me awhile to set it up and use it. Matilda has given me a list of things she wants me to make. I don’t think she realises that I am only w beginner and will need time to practice.

Obviously as it was Christmas mum made too much food and we all had too much wine! But hay it’s Christmas.

We had a great day and I hope you enjoyed your Christmas too.
